Project

The project consisted of the construction of three 4-story luxury condominiums located in Daniel Island.

The Problem

Layers of soft sandy clay beneath the footprint of the proposed condominiums would lead to excessive settlement under the proposed structural loadings.

Earth Tech Solution

Earth Tech installed Aggregate Piers using the bottom-feed installation method.  Aggregate Piers were placed under proposed foundations to a depths up to twenty feet to limit the settlement and increase the in-situ soil bearing capacity to 5,000 psf. This allowed the building to be supported on shallow foundations and eliminated a costly deep pile foundation system.
