Project

​The project consisted of a five-story medical building and seven-story hotel & spa located in The Villages.

The Problem

The geotechnical investigation revealed loose sandy soils in the upper 15-feet of the soil profile that would lead to excessive settlement.

Earth Tech Solution

Earth Tech performed dry bottom feed Vibro Replacement to densify the sands and reduce settlement.  Vibro Replacement was performed to a maximum depth of eighteen.  Predrilling was used to penetrate a shallow hardpan.  A design bearing pressure of 5,000 psf was utilized. Two static load tests were performed to verify the project performance.
