The project included multiple 8-story luxury condominium buildings in Belleair.

The Problem

The geotechnical investigation revealed loose clayey sands up to 23 feet below grade. Use of a shallow foundation system would result in excessive total and differential settlement.

Earth Tech Solution

Earth Tech installed Vibro Replacement Stone Columns beneath foundations to a maximum depth of 23 feet. The improved soil profile allowed the structures to be supported on shallow foundations using a soil bearing capacity of 6,000 psf while limiting total and differential settlements to 1″ and ½” respectively. Performance was verified through full scale plate load testing.
